After a nationwide search, The Episcopal School of Dallas is pleased to introduce Dan Gill as ESD's Athletic Director, starting July 1, 2017. Coach Gill will build on ESD's rich athletic history and continue to move the School's athletic programming forward in tandem with ESD's Mission and core values of honor, respect, and integrity. He will be responsible for sustaining and enhancing the excellence of our athletic programs and infrastructure.
"The consistent feedback from the many who met Dan during his visits to ESD described him as an enthusiastic team builder, who is both communicative and focused," said Meredyth M. Cole, Head of School.
"Dan brings the skills and experience necessary to strategically advance
our programs in conjunction with ESD's Mission, the Hallmarks of an
ESD Education, and the needs of our student-athletes and coaches."
Gill comes to ESD with the goal of making our program the model and leader in interscholastic athletics and sportsmanship for independent schools. He is currently the Athletic Director at Central Catholic High School, a large, co-ed independent day high school in Toledo, Ohio. There, he oversees all aspects of 24 sports programs, mentors and develops coaches and student-athletes, collaborates with the leadership team, division heads, and department chairs to ensure alignment, and professionally represents the school at the conference and state level. He is a member of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association through which he is a Registered Athletic Administrator.
Prior to leading the Fighting Irish, Gill served two years as the Associate Athletic Director for the University School at Nova Southeastern University,
a large, co-ed PreK-12 independent day school in Davie, Florida, and five years as the Director of Athletics/Assistant Recruitment Director/Head Boys Basketball Coach at St. Mary's High School, a co-ed independent day high school in Lancaster, New York. He served The Ohio State University Men's Basketball Team as team manager, sat on the Lancaster/Depew Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors, and acted as the Diocese of Buffalo High School Athletic Association Boys Basketball Chairman. A Buffalo, New York, native, Gill earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from The Ohio State University. From Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, he earned a Master of Science in Sports Administration and a Master of Science in Physical Education.
"Dan Gill's strength of character was easily observed as he spoke of his mission for a student-athlete," said Ellen Carrie, ESD Parents' Association President. "He understands the complexities of a rigorous academic environment and encourages students to pursue other interests, such as robotics and the arts. Not only will Dan be an effective administrator for athletics, the coaching staff, and volunteers, but he will also be an excellent role model for our young athletes. Learning about integrity on and off the field is paramount, and I am confident our students will have that opportunity with Dan at the helm."
