Woodberry was founded on Christian principles and seeks to instill in all students a sense of empathy, as well as an enduring self-confidence that is tempered by genuine humility. The school believes an environment where every student lives on campus is the best way to develop these traits. Woodberry believes that academics, arts, athletics, and community life are all valuable tools for developing these traits in young men.
