Into Independent Schools

What We Do

The Finney Search Group was originally founded to serve independent schools by providing faculty recruitment and leadership search services, particularly with teacher-coach candidates who inspire young people in all phases of life.

We remain committed to our original mission, and our growth has positioned us to support candidates and leadership positions beyond this original model. Today, over 30% of our retained searches involve Heads of School or Division/School Heads.

The Finney Search Group has also developed a special expertise in athletics, whether for placing teacher-coaches, athletic directors, coaches, or similar staff positions.

The common denominator remains our desire to discover and place authentic leaders into school communities who inspire students and colleagues.

How We're Different

Our former roles as Heads of School are not the reason for our success. We succeed because we are accomplished search and placement executives with a proven history of success.

Our industry-leading retention success rates are a result of listening carefully to our clients' requirements and understanding how to find great leaders.

We do not charge an upfront subscription fee as some firms do. We won't inundate you with multiple candidates that are not fully suited to the position you need filled.

We provide personal guidance, advice, and support before, during, and long after the search process. The result is successful placements and repeat engagements.

Our firm enjoys a unique advantage in the field of athletics. We're committed to the Teacher-Coach Model, and over 25% of our total retained searches have been for Athletic Director positions.

Our small size enables us to execute our Total Team Approach, where all 4 partners work together for our clients, concluding with a successful match.

"More than most firms, Finney adopts a personal approach to the work and understands the cultural ecosystem of the schools they serve. They are able to understand the identity of a school and the needs of each particular search, and then match those variables to strong candidates for their clients."
